JUST HAD TO DO SOMETHING

I didn't think that I would be able to get anything accomplished today. Abby Sue had skating, then we had a house showing, and then some shopping. But, Abby Sue and I went to a dollar store we have never been to before and they had spray paint for ONE DOLLAR!!! All of the colours that nobody uses - all the ones that I love!!!! So bought a beautiful blue colour to use on this thing:

I also got one of these

to make a doily for Abby Sue's dresser. I put her beaded one on her new makeup table, so her dresser was looking pretty bare. We had some lavender paint left over, so I went to town spraying. I like how it turned out

It looks cute on her dresser too

When I had finished spraying the thingy, I absolutely loved the colour

I couldn't find any coloured sand and Abbs wasn't in the mood to shop, so I ended up filling it with pot pourri that I had around the house. Then I put it on my mantle. I'm not sure if I like it there, but I certainly loved how it turned out!!

Not too shabby for under $10. Maybe at the new house I will be able to find that perfect spot for my "thingy". Maybe by then I will know what to call it.

I hope everybody is having as much fun this weekend as I am. Pin It

Another 1/2 price Goodwill Friday

It's that day AGAIN!!!  I just love looking forward to 1/2 price Friday.  It makes my whole week thinking about treasures that I can find and make beautiful again!  Today, I found some really special things.  I got this lovely green pleather ottoman for $1.50.

I am going to get some funky leopard material and recover it. Maybe put it beside the fireplace downstairs.

I also got this tower clock. I don't know if it works, but I am thinking that I would like to spray it and turn it into a picture frame.

What do you think?

I also picked up a plain round clock that I am going to turn into one of these

that I found at

Last, but not least, is this beauty.

I am going to try the turquoise thing that seems so popular and fill it with coloured sand.  Either put it in my bathroom or on the mantle.  Haven't decided yet.

Any ideas or inspirations regarding my treasures is greatly appreciated.  Let me know and I will show you the finished products on Monday.

SO EXCITED!!!! Pin It

Trolling Blogland

Since we are currently attempting to sell our house, I haven't had a lot of projects that I can do.  Don't want to clutter the house too much.  I am itching to do something, so I have controlled my impulses by trolling blogland and saving awesome projects to my favorites on my computer.  Today, I am going to share some of the beauty that maybe some of my followers haven't seen.

I was over at

and she had this posting for a ruffled headboard that her mother had made.  It is so beautiful.  I think I might make it for my daughter's room.  Take a peek.

Isn't it absolutely beautiful?  And what a fabulous idea to have it hang like curtains.  BRILLIANT!!

I then moused on over to

Miss Madison’s Charmed Life

Where she had turned this

into this

I love the colour.  I am foaming at the mouth wanting to do something colourful with a piece of furniture.  This selling a house sucks from a DIY point of view.  It was great to begin with because I did so much to get the house ready.  Now, I have to put all of my ideas on hold until we actually sell the house.  Man, once a firm offer is in, my basement is going to turn into an endless pit of DIY projects.

OH MY GOD, I think I just saw the best project ever over at

New Makeup Table

So, I finally, finally got everything done for my open house tomorrow - including finishing Abby Sue's new makeup table. The previous one was way too big and kind of boring. This time, she asked for a bright pink one. Yikes. So, I got this on Kijiji a couple of weeks ago for $20.

We went to Home Depot and she picked out a colour called Wild Violet. So the old turns into the new!!

She loves it. And, without even realizing it, she picked a colour that matches the stripe in her other dresser

I love it. And, now her room is clean for the open house too.
Fingers crossed that we sell. Pin It

Open House

So, we are having an open house on Saturday and my house looks like a bomb hit it!! I made the mistake of putting Miss Abby Sue's make-up table on Kijiji before I finished her new one. I had 6 emails about it within an hour! And, somebody picked up her dresser yesterday. I got her a new one, but I haven't even started painting it!!! All of this needs to be done by Friday. I have to work every day, my hubby is on days so he leaves at 5 and doesn't get home until 8 pm. I am pretty much a single mom this week. I guess I don't need sleep, do I?

So, today I was sick and didn't get anything accomplished. This flu bug doesn't seem to want to clear out of my house. We have had it 3 times since Christmas!!! On a bright note, some things that I did on the weekend finally dried and I could place them where I wanted to. I want my house to look homey and great for the open house and it seems to be coming together - finally.

I bought this chair at goodwill for $1.99

because Abby Sue wanted a new one for her desk. She hates the computer chair with the wheels. And, since the desk is in my fabulous computer room, it had to match my other chair, so here is the finished product!
Gotta love the animal print in my house!

I also got to decorate the console in my family room. I had made one of the mirror on mirror designs that are so popular. I really like how it turned out!

Next, Abby Sue's dresser. Cross fingers that I can get her room done by Friday night. Pin It

Console

While at Goodwill on their 1/2 price Friday sale, I found an ugly, ugly piece of furniture. I think it was either a desk or console. I wasn't quite sure what it was. But I knew that it could be a gorgeous console for when we get our new house. I also knew that I could use it in my current house to put some of Abby Sue's art work over-flow on. It was so horrible. It had a marble top that looked like dead bugs were painted right into it. The sides were painted with a stoney cream coloured paint that looked like the bug marble. Such a hideous piece, but I knew it could be beautiful. Isn't it wonderful how much the imagination takes over once you start your DIY life? Something that you would totally ignore in your previous life becomes a piece with great potential!!!! Anyways, back to my poor bug-ridden table. Here she is when I brought her home:

Did I mention she only cost $4.99? STEAL!!

I needed to sand down the whole thing before I even attempted painting. I needed it to go with the rest of the house, but hadn't decided if I wanted it painted a nice white and black or if I was going to attempt some colour. I decided to go with the safe colours, just because I don't have any idea of what our colours will be in the new house (if we ever move, which is another story). So, my weeknights have been spent painting (which I find quite relaxing).

I used a funky material in the drawer that I had bought to make lampshades. The material was way too overpowering for the shades, but looked great in the drawer.

We have an empty wall in our family room that needs some "staging" before our open house on the weekend, so I put the finished table there

The area is still bare and I have to put some things on the table, but I am planning on making one of these to go on the wall over the table

But that is for another night. I have got to get to bed before I fall asleep at my desk. Have a great night everybody. Sweet DIY dreams! Pin It

SOLD MY FIRST PIECE!!!

Back in the summer, I refinished a makeup table for my baby girl. It was really cute, but too big for her room

I posted it on kijiji and had at least 10 responses within half an hour!!! I sold it last night and the woman came and picked it up today!!! At a nice profit, I might add

I thought it would take longer to sell and now I don't have anything for Abby Sue's room. I have a piece that I was going to redo that I best get my butt in gear and finish.

LOVE KIJIJI!!!! Pin It

Valentines Day Meet Me on Monday

Today is the Valentine's Edition of Never Growing Old's

Here are the questions:

1. Did you get any Valentine's Gifts?
2. What is your favorite topping on something toasted?
3. Do you pick out your outfit the night before?
4. What food item do you absolutely despise?
5. Righty or lefty?
---------------------------------------------------------------

1. We don't give Valentine's day gifts - except to my daughter. However, for the first time in 8 years, my husband remembered it was Valentine's Day and wished me a happy day before he left for work at 5 am this morning.

2. I love toast with field berry triple fruit spread!! Have it on Weight Watcher bread and you can have 4 pieces instead of 2!!

3. I never pick out my clothes the night before. I am like a tornado in the morning trying to figure out what to wear

4. I absolutely despise PEAS. They are so gross, squishy in the mouth and mushy. BLECK

5. I am one of God's chosen - a lefty!

I am stylin!!!

I just received the

Thanks so much.  I never win anything and I certainly never expected to win anything with respect to my tiny little blog.

Ok, so now I have to follow the rules that go with these prestigious awards

The Rules:

1. Thank and link back to the person who awarded you this award.

2. Share 7 things about yourself.

3. Award 15 recently discovered great bloggers.

4. Contact these bloggers and tell them about the award, and

let the giver know you accept the award!

Here are seven new things about myself:

1.  I can type 120 words per minute.  I know that is a weird thing to be proud of, but it is my only talent - I can't sing, I can't sew, I am an average baker/cook - so that is my one thing that I can do better than most.

2.  I fell in love with my hubby at a movie theatre on our first date!! He stood behind me in line and put his chin on my shoulder while we waited to get our tickets.

3.  I love, love, love chips and Beatrice french onion dip.  On weekends, when my hubby is working day shift, my daughter and I have backwards day and eat chips and dip for breakfast!!

4.  I have about 100 pairs of sandals in my closet.  Which is quite funny because I live in Canada!!  I used to live in Mississippi, which is the reason for the sandals.  I wish Canada had that type of weather all year long.  Sigh.

5.  I read the last page in a book before I buy it.  If I don't like the ending, I won't buy it!!!

6.  When I go to other people's homes, I turn the toilet paper roll so that it rolls under, not over!!

7.  My 17 year old niece should have been my daughter!!!  She is exactly like me in style and personality.  I love her and my Miss Abby Sue more than anything in the world!

I now have to award these to 15 bloggers that I think are great.  I hope I have 15 to give them to that don't already have them!!

http://stellaandgray.blogspot.com/

I have only give this to 3 people right now, but I will get out there and see what other sites have been doing awesome diys lately.

Thanks again for the award.  I feel like a movie star at the Oscars - minus the money, great dress and fabulous hair!!
