From Lamp to Candle

I have a wonderful finished basement that we don't spend a lot of time in. We have a nice corner fireplace that has no character. I have attempted to spruce up the mantle, but I still wanted something on the floor. So, today while I was over at

I saw a blog from Nita at

about a huge ugly lamp that she had purchased and didn't know what to do with. Nita ended up turning it into a huge filial (I never knew that was the word for it - oh the things I learn in blogland). It is absolutely beautiful. She started with this:

and turned it into this:

You absolutely need to go over to that blog. Nita is fabulous. That reminds me, I have to become a follower of her - she rocks!

So, today was 1/2 price Friday at Goodwill (Yahoo!!). I found this huge, ugly lamp for $3.99!!!!!! Isn't it horrible?  As with Nita's lamp, it is hard to tell in the pictures how tall the lamp actually is.

The shade was so ugly that when I picked up my bigger items, I put the shade right back into the Goodwill bin!  But, with Nita's post in mind, I saw this lamp transformed into a beautiful candle holder.

Here is the after, sorry about the ugly candle.  I have to go find something huge and dramatic tomorrow.

Isn't it pretty?  But, now I need another one or something else for the other side of the fireplace.  What a good reason to go back next week!!! Pin It
