READING MATERIAL

I have been so out of craft mode lately. However, a wonderful girl that I met through my zumba classes and friended on Facebook has a new page that is called Agree to It. She will sell your old stuff for you and take a cut of what you make. Kind of like a kijiji or craig's list on Facebook. She has been great at getting rid of unwanted stuff from my house. A friend of hers also has an Orillia Storage Wars page, and they have auctions twice a week. I am LOVING it!!! Since I love crafting so much, but don't need any new furniture in my house, I am teaming up with her. I will craft and she will sell.

First up on the list, a free bookcase.

Silly me. I forgot to start taking pictures before I took the shelf apart. Someday, I will learn....... I had some material left over from when I redid my kitchen table, so I decided to use it.

I took the material to Home Depot and went to the Oops section to see what kind of paint they had. Boy, did I luck out!! I got 4 cans of paint for $1.00 each!!!! Of course, the colour that I wanted, navy blue, was not in the pile of paints, so I did have to splurge and spend $4.99 on it. It is very hard to photograph navy blue

The material was adhered to the back of the shelf by using spray adhesive. I love this pattern.

The shelf itself took about 4 coats of paint, and it is still a little "shabby chic" in spots. I think it lends a little
charm to it. What do you think?

Not too bad for a price tag of $4.99, is it?

Now, to put it on Orillia Storage Wars and watch (hopefully) it sell. Lots more projects coming up. I am IN CRAFT MODE everybody!!!! Pin It

  1. Nice job Vickie. The book came out fabulous. I would like to tell you that every paint dept. anywhere has a section called "OOPS PAINT" section. These are gallons or quarts of paint people ordered and did not like the results. The store must sell them so they put these unwanted paints in this section and they sale them for $1-2 dollard for each quart and $2-$5 dollars a gallon so they can sell them fast. That's how I get so much paint colors, its good brand name paint and its cheap. So whenever you need paint...go to a paint store or dept stores like Sears, Walmart or Kmart and look in their OOPS section. They all have this section where people can't find them. They sometimes have drums of paint for $20-25 dollard a drum. I got 5 drums of white semi gloss paint for my father's rentals for only $80.00 dollars for all of them at Sherwim Williams. Good luck.
