HAPPY MEAL

When John and I moved into this house, I splurged and spent $1000 on this table and chair set.

Sorry for the mess.  That table seems to get all of the crap thrown on it.

Anyways, at the time, I just loved it.  Now, however, I think it is old and boring.  Spray paint to the rescue!!

First, I bought the coolest fabric EVER

John HATED it, but I was not going to change my mind.  I painted the chairs white

It was 100% better than before, but it actually glowed in the dark when the lights were off.  I left it for about a week and then couldn't take it anymore.  Out came the trusty ORB paint.  What a difference!

Love, love, love how they turned out.  However, once I put them all around the table (without finishing the table first), I had a light bulb moment.  It would be entirely too dark and would take away from the awesome fabric.  So, I am coming to you for help.

Should I paint the table a pale yellow, or go for a lime green?  Or maybe the coral?  Or maybe the blue?  OMG, there are so many choices.

Feedback, Help!!!!!!!

THROWING IN THE TOWEL

Our house is a pretty standard, cookie cutter, subdivision house.  The bathrooms have the standard fixtures, large mirror and silver towel rack.  I detest those towel racks.  Want to see why?

They pull away from the wall - especially if your husband yanks on the towels to get them down.  Drives ME CRAZY!!!  So, now we have 2 massive holes in the wall that have to be patched and painted, and nowhere for John to hang his towels.  We are painting that room soon, so I didn't want to have to do any extra work. PINTEREST TO THE RESCUE!!!

I had some old wood left over from making some other project (can't remember what).  So, I glued three pieces together.

I let them dry for almost a week so that they wouldn't fall apart.  Then I stained them with my very most favourite stain

While that dried, I debated painting this swing set monstrosity that I got FOR FREE (yeah baby) off of kijiji.

I am going to paint it white and then let Abbs paint some colours herself. Did you notice that I said I am going to paint it.  Yep, I didn't get around to it.  Too hot.

The stain turned out great on the wood, but I wasn't sure what to use for the hooks.  Well, guess what I found in the garage?

I gorillia glued these suckers to the stained wood.

I let it dry overnight and was really pleased with the result, until I hung it up and the hook fell off!  Back to the drawing board - or should I say the dollar store.  I bought some typical silver crochet hooks and screwed them on.

I just love the dark stain against the striped walls.

So while Abby Sue and her friend were getting drenched by the sprinkler while sitting on the trampoline

I made 2 towel hooks for the total cost of $2.57.  Couldn't ask for a better weekend, could ya?

Now, just because I can't believe what a suck my dog is, here is Diego with his favorite toy - his pacifier

That's Abby Sue's friend, Hennessy, who has to get a shout out, as she helped me with the hooks for the towel rack. Thanks baby!!!

I just love cheap projects that turn out exactly like you want them to.
Toodles for now, as I am in the midst of ANOTHER project.  Talk to you soon.

TIME IS ON JOHN'S SIDE

I finally got the bedding for my room.  It is called Passport and I love it!

John likes it too, which is always half, ok maybe 1/4 of the battle.

I have my side of the room done

but John's side is beyond blah and boring.  I wish I could take a picture of the whole room, but it is too big.  My flower mirror is absolutely huge, but doesn't look it in this picture.

Anyways, this is John's side

Isn't that horrible?  What kind of a person thinks a lacrosse stick is decorating??

We don't have any clocks in our room besides the ones on our nightstands.  I saw this on Pinterest

and knew what I wanted on the wall.  I saw another clock kind of like this at Urban Barn, but it was almost $200 bucks and I am way way way too cheap for that.

John was away all weekend playing lacrosse, so after the Canada Day Festivities

Abby Sue and I went to Home Depot and we each spent $6 on supplies.  My little chip off the ole block was going to craft with me.  Gosh, I just adore that child.

Armed with acrylic paint and sponge brushes, we both set out to make masterpieces.  Mine started with a berry red colour

and a huge piece of MDF

Abby Sue's project started with a big smile

I painted the whole board with the berry paint, then used an old clock to trace a circle, which I then painted white.

I used a small glass to trace circles within the white circle and then painted the numbers in black.  I then took my walnut stain and rubbed it all over the face of the board.  I wipe it off and then proceeded to sand the crap out of it.

Abby Sue, or should I say, Picasso, drew a picture of her family

I have to find a place of honour for this masterpiece.

Mine isn't so fancy or artistic

Sorry the picture is crooked.  Who knew it was so hard to hold a camera steady?  Anyways, I hung it on the wall and I LOVE it!!  It is so hard to tell how big it actually is, but it is the perfect size for the wall

Now the walls are so balanced, I love it

I love how this room is shaping up.  Just a little bit more, and then it is on to the walk in closet and master bath.  Summer is here and I am having a hard time getting my but in gear.  Anybody else loving summer too much to craft?

I have a few other projects in the works and will post as I finish.

Have a wonderful 4th of July.  This 1/2 Canadian 1/2 American blogger will be celebrating along you!! Pin It
