MARCH WINDS AND APRIL SHOWERS

I am sick to death of winter. We have had a few nice days, but have not been able to put flowers out because we still have frost at night. So, I decided to make some flowers of my own.

Miss Abby Sue has a friend sleeping over tonite and she LOVES to make things with me. So, we decided that we would make some flower pillows out of felt. I don't own a sewing machine so we decided to sew them by hand. We started out on the floor working together

and as you can see from the picture, this kept happening

so we had to move to the table. During the move, McKenna decided that it was too hard to sew and asked me to sew for her. Sigh. Abby Sue was already in her room playing, so I let McKenna go so the two of them could put on "concert" clothes and makeup

Then, to top it all off, the material I bought for the girls was actually stretchy material, not felt, so I ended up using the stuff I had bought for me. I took a pot lid and made a circle

Then I sewed for 1/2 an hour to get it looking like a pie ready to go into the oven

3 glue sticks later, and we were left with this

We then made a pink one for McKenna to take home. I think they turned out pretty cute, but they are a lot of work. I bet if I had a sewing machine, it would have taken 1/2 the time. Santa, did you hear that mention of a sewing machine??

On a side note, I jazzed up the kitchen some by changing this hardware

I don't know why they would have chosen a silver knob to go with brown cabinets. Anyways, I splurged and spent $50 on hardware. I like how it turned out

I am also slowly but surely finishing my bedroom. I painted the tops of my wooden dressers black to match my nightstands and took the wooden handles off

I took some trivets that I bought at the dollar store and painted them a bright green

I love the pop of colour they bring to my room.

Now, all I need are some door handles. I found some online that I just love

But it would cost me about $100 for all of them. I have looked and looked and that seems to be about how much I am going to have to pay. I tried to spray paint some that I had around the house, but they just don't look right. So, for now, my dressers have no knobs on them. I am going to break down and buy the green ones for myself for my birthday.

On a positive note, a woman came back for a second look at my house. She loves it, but needs to sell her house first. Fingers crossed that she sells hers soon so that she can buy mine!!!

Have a great weekend everybody. Pin It
